Life Tools
Life Tools are running their sessions online for the foreseeable future. If you are looking at different ways to maximise your time, or want to learn how to manage your studies, the Life Tools programme is the one for you.
With weekly emails and regular webinars, there’s always something new to learn to help support you on your journey through university.
If you would like to find out more, please check out the Life Tools pages on Essentials and follow their blog page.
PAL (Peer Assisted learning)
The PAL programme, run by the University, is a form of peer support in which higher year students, are trained and supported by the University to run weekly, facilitated, interactive sessions for a group of lower year students. PAL is a great way to create support communities and to connect with other students.
PAL sessions this year will run through Blackboard Collaborate.
If you would like to find out more about PAL, or have any questions or queries, check out the PAL pages on Essentials or contact Becky Allen, the PAL Coordinator: pal@reading.ac.uk.
STaR Mentors
The Students Transition into Reading (STaR) scheme is a programme where returning students volunteer to help new students settle in to university life.
This year, the majority of sessions will be run online, but if there is an opportunity to safely meet face-to-face and the mentor and mentee are happy to do so, then this might be a possibility.
If you would like to find out more about STaR, please check out the STaR pages on Essentials, or send any questions or queries you have to starmentors@reading.ac.uk.
