Harassment reporting and support
The University is committed to the prevention of harassment and bullying for all staff and students, and to providing effective reporting mechanisms. These are backed up by appropriate support for any staff and students who are affected by harassment and bullying incidents.
The University supports its staff and students through different mechanisms, but a single Harassment and Bullying Policy Statement (PDF - 270 KB) applies across all our employees, students, contractors, casual and agency workers. This useful document gives examples of the types of behaviours that can be considered harassment and bullying, outlines our responsibilities as individuals or managers, and lists the formal procedures that staff and students have recourse to.
Reporting and support: students
Students who feel they are being harassed or bullied should report this to the University where internal support is available, as well as support from RUSU and external agencies. More information and how to report an incident can be found separately on our #NeverOK webpage.
Reporting, Support and associated procedures: staff
There are many resources and sources of support to help staff who feel that they have been subject to or may have witnessed harassment or bullying, including line managers, HR Partners and Advisers, UCU Trade Union Representatives, and the Staff Forum. We also have a network of volunteer, trained Harassment Advisers across the University who are ready to offer support and advice. Below we detail their role, and provide brief profiles and contact details for each Adviser. Finally confidential advice and support is also available through the Employee Assistance Programme.
