Learning Capture - Students

New learning capture trial – coming soon

From the 2022/23 academic year, the University of Reading will be using a new system for learning capture, called YuJa. This system will allow the University to provide Learning Capture in more rooms for more students and better tools for staff and students to use when recording and sharing video.

In January 2022 the University will be ‘soft launching’ this system. The soft launch is a pre-release or preview of the product. It will be used to gather feedback from staff and students, to test functionality, to allow adjustments to be made, and for training and guidance to be targeted where needed.

Selected academic staff will be using this opportunity to get toknowtest the system, ask questions and plan how they will use learning capture in their teaching from the 2022/23 academic year.

How will this affect you? (Spring 2022)

For most students there will be no change to the teaching experienced in the Autumn Term 2021 - your lecturers will continue to have access to their existing range of teaching technology tools.

If one of your lecturers is amongst our team of champions testing the new learning capture system in the Spring Term (2022), they will let you know how they’ll be using it and of any changes you may see to your teaching as a result. You may also have the chance to provide valuable feedback on your experience with learning capture.

Whats next?

From January, some lecturers will be trialing the use of Classroom Capture to gather feedback and information on using the tool effectively before a widerUniversity rollout in the 22/23 academic year. This means that some of your on-campus sessions may be recorded and available for you to watch from within your Blackboard Module.
