APPetite is a regular event run by the TEL team, where academic, administrative, and professional staff are invited to join us for an informal lunch to discuss the use of mobile apps in teaching and learning.

Within these events, we have short talks given by attendees about their experience of using mobile apps in their courses, followed by the opportunity for everyone to discuss, try out and ask questions about the apps which have been presented.

There are many benefits of bringing apps into part of the course design to improve a students' learning, including:

  • Combining education and entertainment, for an active learning approach
  • Information available 24/7, compared to the set times of lessons
  • Easy to transport information around on an app, which makes it available anywhere
  • Increased levels of communication between student and tutor.
