blended learning

In order to integrate technology into our courses and programmes, some of our teaching at the University of Reading comes in the form of blended learning.

This means that there is a perfect mix of face-to-face interaction between student and academic, and computer-focused activities with content being delivered digitally.

Using this method, students have access to all of the course resources online which allows them to look over topics in their own time in order to strengthen their learning should they need more time away from the classroom to look over something they've been taught.

BENEFITS OF INTRODUCING BLENDED LEARNING

There are many advantages for using blended learning within courses and programmes, including:

  • Individual learning allows students to go at their own pace
  • Teachers have more time to offer support to students who need it
  • Using technology within education improves communication and improves students' attitude to learning
  • Has the potential to reduce expenses as material and classroom is in an online space
  • Tests can be automatically scored using technology, allowing immediate feedback.
