Angela Buckingham

As an Academic Developer in the ADE team, my responsibilities are to support and develop the enhancement of teaching, learning and assessment within the University. I support the University's HEA accredited FLAIR Framework via the CPD scheme and AFHEA doctoral pathway, and as a module convenor on our taught route the Academic Practice Programme (the APP). I lead on Preparing to Teach for the Graduate School, and support colleagues overseas at the UoR Malaysia campus and at our NUIST-Reading Academy in China. I am an HEA Senior Fellow and a University Teaching Fellow.

My background is in language teaching, materials writing and teacher training (online and face to face); I have 20 years+ experience in ELT and seven years as an Academic Developer in Higher Education. I am the author of numerous ELT publications and have worked as a classroom teacher in the UK, Australia and Japan. I deliver teacher training courses for educators in a wide range of T&L context, in overseas settings and online.

Areas of interest in Higher Education:

  • Staff development and CPD
  • The international teacher and student experience, Internationalisation at Home
  • Blended Learning
