Areas of interest

My research interests span a number of areas, including the study of the uptake of innovative sustainable technologies in construction projects, exploring how to operationalise the benefits of sustainable technology, and understanding the impact of new technologies on the status quo.

The focus of my work is understanding the interrelationships between different disciplines within construction projects and exploring how these come together, or not, in the adoption of new technologies to deliver the promised benefits in terms of sustainability.

This work has been incorporated in the Building Research Establishment (BRE) information paper on the specification and use of building integrated photovoltaic technology on buildings (2018).

I have an ongoing interest in the development of group teaching and learning pedagogy, and the broadening of diversity in science and technology.

Research activity:

  • diversity and inclusion in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) recruitment

  • barriers and challenges in the adoption of autonomous vehicles

  • sustainable transition.
