Background

My career in the construction industry began after completion of my associate degree in civil engineering. I then joined a construction company where I held the role of construction supervisor.

Here I assisted the company in the planning and management of construction projects, the logistic and administrative aspects of construction documents, and facilitated the overall management of construction. In parallel, I started studying towards a BSc and received my degree in Civil Engineering. 

After gaining four years of construction industry experience in managing diverse construction projects including residential buildings, non-residential buildings and public infrastructure, I graduated my MSc in Integrated Construction Project Management from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in 2010.

I also completed my PhD in Civil Engineering (Construction Management) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2016. My major contribution during my PhD was developing a context-aware collaboration tool for precast supply chain management.

After my PhD, I started to work as a construction manager and site supervisor for three years. I implemented various construction project management techniques (both to concrete and steel structures). I had to ensure that a project was completed safely, make sure the project ran on time, and achieve quality standards within the allocated budget allowance.

Parallel to this role, I joined two universities for teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students, along with supervising the research students and being an external examiner for them.

In 2020, I took up the Teaching Fellow in Construction and Building Science role at the University of Reading.
