Course Outline

This highly popular Masters programme will provide you with an understanding of the latest principles and practices in marketing and examine the critical role marketing strategy plays in developing competitive advantage for organisations, regardless of their size or the sector and region in which they operate.

You will develop a knowledge of the key marketing theories, frameworks and models, alongside an understanding of current and emerging business and marketing practices used by leading organisations worldwide.

Teaching combines the latest principles and practices in marketing with leading-edge research. We also welcome regular guest speakers from industry, with experience in businesses ranging from SMEs to multinational organisations, to share their expertise and provide our students with unique insights and perspectives. This real-world interaction forms a distinctive and highly rewarding part of the programme. A strong focus on student participation means you gain an understanding of the strategies, challenges and opportunities facing business and marketing managers in product and services markets on an international scale. Student projects will allow you to apply your knowledge and abilities to real world situations.

This programme focuses closely on areas including digital marketing, business to business marketing, marketing theory, marketing strategy and marketing management from a global perspective. It explores management in a broader context, looking at the role and impact of the individual within an organisation and other factors affecting a firm ranging from strategic management to international HRM.

This programme is suitable for applicants with no direct specialist knowledge or experience in marketing and we welcome applications from recent university graduates from a wide range of disciplines.

This programme is designed to prepare graduates to work internationally in a general or trainee management role, specifically in the functional area of marketing, in any sector, for organisations ranging from small and medium sized enterprises to multinational firms. Graduates find roles in banking and financial organisations, accountancy and professional services firms, marketing and advertising companies or functions, the manufacturing industry, the retail sector, the public sector and consultancies.

Entry Requirements

You are generally expected to have obtained an upper secondclass honours degree in the UK, or the international equivalent. Students whose previous studies were not undertaken in English will be required to submit evidence of proficiency.
