My main area of research is the history of linguistics, and more specifically Latin grammar terminology. My PhD research ("Inclinationes Animi. Verbal Mood in Latin Grammatical Thought from Varro to Priscian") is supervised by Prof Karla Pollmann. In my thesis, I analyse the "traditional" Latin grammar in its earliest stages. My main interest is to establish what lies underneath the grammatical terminology we still use in class today, and how the teaching of Latin grammar has been adapted to different audiences in Rome and Constantinople across the (late) antique centuries.
Before coming to Reading, I completed my BA in Latin and Slavonic Studies and my MA in Latin at the Humboldt University of Berlin, as well as spending a semester at the Charles University in Prague.
