Bilingualism Matters

Who we are

Bilingualism Matters is an information and outreach centre funded at the University of Edinburgh by Prof. Antonella Sorace. Our mission is to bridge the gap between researchers and the community by providing accurate and up-to-date information about bi-and multilingualism to families, schools, clinicians and policy-makers. Bilingualism Matters counts on a wide network of partner branches spread all over the world, including Norway, Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, the US, Greece, Germany, Spain and France.

Bilingualism Matters@Reading, opened in 2013 and run by Professor Ludovica Serratrice, is the only existing branch in England. As part of the Centre for Literacy and Multilingualism, BM@Reading focuses on topics related to education, psycholinguistics, migration, neuroscience and language disorders. We provide information to the public through a web-site, a twitter account and three dedicated leaflets for families, teachers and speech and language therapists. Also, we organise workshops and information sessions for practitioners, as well as talks and events for families on a regular basis.
