MSc Wildlife Management and Conservation - Modules

Vertebrate Conservation

GiraffeHuman impact on the world's ecosystems is leading to a widespread and accelerating loss of biodiversity. Stopping this loss requires an understanding of which species are at risk and what are the key threats affecting them so that suitable conservation strategies can be developed. In this module we will explore these questions focusing on vertebrate species which include fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. Students will also learn about conservation assessment, monitoring and prioritization tools currently used in conservation.

These topics will be covered in lectures (some delivered by guest speakers), discussion sessions and student-led seminars.
