Centre for Cardiovascular Imaging

Established in 2013, the Centre supports researchers as a part of the Institute for Cardiovascular Imaging.

The Human Imaging Suite contains equipment for the measurement of physical data such as bone mineral density (BMD), fat and lean tissue mass and the distribution of bodily tissues, and enables in-depth analysis of physical conditions without invasive examination techniques. Subjects can be scanned in a short period of time, as short as fifteen minutes. The equipment allows for the examination of children and persons of large stature - up to 204kg or 1.93m in height.

confocalAdvanced microscopy suites

The Centre for Cardiovascular Imaging is equipped with specialist microscopic technology, including intravital microscopes, high-frequency ultrasound, confocal microscopes and flow cytometry. These specialist facilities make the School of Biological Sciences an ideal place for students and researchers of the biomedical sciences.
