Student, Vervina Henry, as part of her final degree show

At Reading School of Art our distinctive degrees support your individual concerns and development, and enable you to navigate your way through practice, theory and history.

Our degree courses will inspire and challenge you and our teaching staff will equip you with the skills that will help you develop independent thought and confidence in your practice, as well as professional and transferable skills for employment in the creative field.

"Not only was I able to refine my practical skills but I was also encouraged to think seriously about the political and ethical position of my work. Being in dialogue with practicing artists allowed me to take my work seriously as a means of participating in a larger conversation."

Laura Nicholson, BA Art

How you'll learn

Immerse yourself in the creative process and explore a wide range of fine art media - examining both  the traditional and the contemporary.

Your teaching staff are all practicing artists and will support your learning and respond to the work that you make and help you understand how it contributes to, and challenges, the critical debates that exist in the art world and beyond.

Opportunities to  exhibit and collaborate with regional, national and international artists and curators will develop your professional practice and give you the skills and knowledge necessary to  succeed in a global art world.

"During my degree, I have visited both America and China. It's important to be exposed to the international art community as it has allowed both my art practice and me personally to develop."
