Staff Profile:Dr Partha Ray
- Name:
- Dr Partha Ray
- Job Title:
- Lecturer in Dairy Animal Science
- Responsibilities:
- Areas of Interest:
Research
Overall goal of my research is to improve the sustainability of animal agriculture by reducing the environmental impact.
Specific research interests include-
Development or identification and implementation of dietary management strategies to improve nutrient (minerals) utilisation efficiency in ruminants and reduce environmental loading of nutrients
Evaluation of manure management strategies to reduce nutrient (minerals) loading to the environment
Nutrient (minerals) evaluation of by-product feed ingredients and forages to improve the prediction of their mineral profile
Quantitative assessment of the contribution of livestock farms to the environmental pool of micropollutants or emerging contaminants (antibiotic residues, heavy metals, antibiotic resistance genes)
Identification of critical control points to develop management strategies to reduce the spread of antimicrobial resistance from livestock farms
Role of heavy metals (Cu, Zn) as nutrients and as antimicrobial agents in ruminants
Teaching
Teaching various animal science topics including animal nutrition, livestock management and the environment
