Careers

We are proud to equip our graduates with the skills they need to gain top industry jobs. We also offer focused careers advice, support and networking opportunities.

During our annual careers fairs, you'll have the opportunity to establish good contacts among potential employers, and we provide you with advice on CV writing and job application strategies to increase the chances of getting the job you want. In fact, many of our students graduate already having received job offers.

All of our students complete a career planning module to develop skills for effective career decision-making, and there are plenty of opportunities to build vital experience and skills through the Reading Experience and Development (RED) Award.

Careers for BSc Consumer Behaviour and Marketing graduates

Our graduates typically find employment in consumer marketing, advertising, communications and the media, customer services, public relations, market research and product development in a range of organisations, from small family businesses and start-ups to multi-national corporations and in the not-for-profit sector.

Some of our graduates have gone on to work for employers such as Victoria's Secret, Clarks, and Premier Foods, or with companies overseas, such as Chomp in New Zealand.

Careers for BSc Food Marketing and Business Economics graduates

Our graduates are well equipped to enter a career in the food industry, from small family firms to multi-national corporations. Many of the skills that you develop are transferable to other industries and professions.

Potential employment areas include marketing and sales, market research and new product development, buying, retail management, supply chain management, and policy analysis.

Some of our graduates have gone on to work for employers such as Mars, Sainsbury's, Harrods, Unilever, Procter & Gamble, The Food Standards Agency, Pepisco and Heineken.

“Having a food-specific degree from such a respected university opened up so many doors when applying for graduate jobs. After two years on the grad scheme at Unilever, followed by jobs with Innocent and Danone, I now head up sales at Nyetimber.”

Joanne Gunn, BSc Food Marketing and Business Economics, Head of Sales at Nyetimber
