There are two agriculture options for postgraduate study, including a Master's by research that covers either Agriculture, Ecology and the Environment, or Animal Science.

MSc Agriculture and Development

Examine how agriculture (including horticulture) may address the global challenges and opportunities of agricultural intensification and environmental sustainability, particularly in the tropics and subtropics. This flexible programme offers a horticulture pathway.

Core modules:

  • Agriculture in the tropics
  • Experimental agriculture/horticulture
  • Theories and practices of development
  • Research and study skills for independent study

MSc by Research in Agriculture, Ecology and Environment

This programme will prepare you for a research career in agriculture and agri-environment sectors, or for subsequent doctoral studies.

Taught by researchers from the Centre for Agri-Environmental Research, a leading centre for agroecology research and highly respected by employers in the sector, you will gain a multi-disciplinary appreciation of the underlying environmental, social and economic issues surrounding contemporary agriculture systems. You will also receive rigorous training in commonly used research methods and statistical analyses.

MSc by research in animal science

This programme will aid your understanding of key topics associated with animal nutrition, health, behaviour and sustainable livestock production, while allowing you to develop as a competent researcher.
