  • Description
    A roller is towed across a surface to break up and flatten the land. This roller is solid stone, with a central iron bar and connecting chains.
  • Physical description
    1 roller: stone, iron and wood; good condition......mortise and tenon joint. Through this joint pass iron bars carrying large iron loops. The traction chain is attached to these loops. There is a thick iron ring and hook at the centre of the chain

    MERL Miscellaneous note - At the time of installation as part of the Our Country Lives Project there was confusion between this object and another roller numbered 62/402. The object placed on display is physically numbered '51/8' and matches the physical description of this object. [OAD 15/09/2016]
