Pattern used to make the felloes of a wheel. Inscribed:'W. W Field Winson, 7 ash felloes x 3" wide, Mr W Lock Cirencester'.
This is a wheelwright’s pattern used to make the felloes (rim sections) of a wheel, and showing the exact curve needed. This pattern is made of wood and inscribed with the words 'W W Field Winson // 7 ash felloes x 3" wide // Mr W Lock Cirencester'. The pattern came from the workshop of Mr W. W. Field, a wheelwright in Winson, Gloucestershire. Mr Field retired circa 1960 and the business closed.
