Description
This is a wheelwright’s pattern used to make the felloes (rim sections) of a wheel, and showing the exact curve needed. This pattern is made of wood and marked at regular intervals around the outer edge of the curve. It is inscribed with the words ‘12 // Height 4' 10" / 2 Doz Felloes to this pattern'. The pattern came from the workshop of Mr W. W. Field, a wheelwright in Winson, Gloucestershire. Mr Field retired circa 1960 and the business closed.
