Description
This is a wheelwright’s pattern used to make the felloes (rim sections) of a wheel, and showing the exact curve needed. This pattern is made of wood and inscribed with the words ‘Mr Lock Cirencester // 1 doz dry felloes to this pattern x 3 1/2 or 3 1/4 wide'. The pattern came from the workshop of Mr W. W. Field, a wheelwright in Winson, Gloucestershire. Mr Field retired circa 1960 and the business closed.
