    MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'The upright of this hanger is 2 feet 2 inches long. It is hooked at one end and at the other there is a knob from which the loop is suspended. The ratchet is 1 foot 8 inches long, 2 inches wide, and has ten teeth. // The hanger is considerably more delicate in construction than is usual. Some attempt at ornamentation is evident in the grooved and curled hook on the ratchet and the curl on the loop.
