  • Description
    This is a heavy sledge hammer with a steel head, with one flat face and a straight pane, and a curved ash handle. The head is stamped with the name of the manufacturer, which may be 'Foster' although the text is unclear. The hammer belonged to Mr W. W. Field, a wheelwright in Winson, Gloucestershire. Mr Field retired circa 1960 and the business closed.
