    A bobbin winder used in lacemaking for winding thread quickly and easily onto bobbins. Bought in Essex during World War II
    This is a bobbin winder, a tool used in lacemaking for winding thread quickly and easily onto bobbins. It consists of a wheel, four arms which hold the skein of thread, and a pulley which attaches the wheel to the stand. There is a small drawer in the stand. The donor bought the winder in Essex during World War II and used it in Buckinghamshire, where she learnt the craft of lacemaking.
