    Six clay tiles from the chancel roof of Saint Mary's Church in Kintbury, Berkshire. Believed to date from 1859 when the church was restored.
    These six clay tiles came from the chancel roof of Saint Mary's Church in Kintbury, Berkshire. Three are plain and three are fish scale tiles, and all six have two fixing holes at the top. The tiles are believed to date from 1859 when the church was restored. They were removed from the church in December 1958 when the chancel roof was being re-tiled.

Newbury, Berks. // No. of Bricks or Tiles: 3 Plain, 3 Fish scale. // Date Removed From Site: December, 1958. // Approximate Date: 1859. // These tiles are believed to be tiles used when the Church was restored in 1859. They were removed from the Chancel roof when it was re-tiled in November-December, 1958, when the fish scale tiles were all re-laid on the North side, instead of in bands on both sides as originally laid.’
