    MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This is a tall, ugly hot water jug, made of pewter. The handle is not insulated, but it has two rings of pewter at the point where there are usually insulating rings on tea pots. The jug is ornamented all over, and the lid is hinged to the main body of the jug. It was made by Howes and bears the numbers 5 and 1840.', No Lavinia Smith No. recorded.
