  • Description
This is a hop sampler, used by merchants to extract a sample from a hop pocket to decide on the quality of a particular crop. It consists of two flat iron plates, which are pressed together to obtain the sample. The spring of the handle is adjusted by means of a screw. The sampler is stamped with the name 'Russell', and was probably manufactured in Farnham.
