  • Description
    This milk can is made of tinned metal with a hinged brass lid and a handle. The lid is engraved with ‘G. R. Davey & Sons’. The one gill measure for measuring milk is made of tinned metal and has a curved brass handle. It has an official stamp and 'Gill' on the side. The two were used by Davey & Sons, a dairy firm in Brentwood, Essex.

    MERL ‘History Artefacts’ card – ‘Description: A medium sized can or kettle made of tinned metal. It has a rim at the bottom and brass bands on each side for carrying the small cans. There is also a brass wire bracket inside to hang the measure on. The brass lid fits tightly and is attached by a brass hinge. It is elaborately engraved with the name & address of the owner and a leaf design.
