    Pestle and mortar, believed to date from the mid-19th C. They were probably used for powdering substances such as spices and nuts.
    Nothing is known of the origins of this pestle and mortar, which are believed to date from the mid-nineteenth century. The mortar is stone, and the pestle is stone with a wooden handle, stamped 'No.10'. They were probably used for powdering substances such as spices and nuts.
