Sheath from a large pair of shears for cutting the fleece of a sheep. Found in 1906 in a loft over the stable at a farm in Frindsbury, Kent.
This is the sheath from a very large pair of shears for cutting the fleece of a sheep by hand. The donor found the shears in 1906 in a disused loft over the stable at his father's farm in Frindsbury, Kent. The donor believed they dated from the second half of the nineteenth century, and thought they may have been used by shepherds at Cliffe and the Cooling Marshes in Kent.
