    Trade token often issued in the 18th C. by merchants. Used during times of coin shortages or advertising purposes. Issued in 1792 in Norwich.
    Trade tokens were often issued in the late eighteenth century by merchants. They were used to trade during times of coin shortages but also for advertising purposes. This token was issued in 1792 in Norwich, and features a shield design on one side and 'Norfolk and Norwich Halfpenny 1792' with an image of castle and lion and 'May Norwich Flourish Pro bono publico' on the other.
