    MERL 'Handwritten catalogue' form – ‘1) A ring of straw bound spirally with string. The ring is 13 ¼ - 14” in diameter made from a bundle ¾" in diameter. // 2) The beginning of a skep. Hole 2” - 2 ¼" at top is formed by a small size (½") rope twisted spirally. This gets bigger (¾"-1”). Spirals bound to each other by split cane strip (1/8”). Straw bundle held together by a tubular leather girth 3 ½” long.'
