  • Title
At Barking, Essex or Norfolk Church Tower,
  • Creator
Thomas Lound (Engraver), Thomas Lound (Artist)
  • Description
A medieval or Gothic-style stone gatehouse or church tower. The central structure features a large arched passageway at its base, with tall, narrow windows above—likely pointed or lancet-shaped, typical of Gothic architecture. The top of the tower has battlements or crenellations, giving it a fortified appearance. To the left of the main structure, there is a smaller building with a slanted roof, and in the foreground, two figures are standing or conversing near the entrance. A fence or gate is visible on the right side of the composition, leading into what looks like a rural or village setting. The trees in the background add depth and suggest a countryside location.
