Description
Brown scrapbook with the title 'Writing Album' in embossed goldscript on the centre front and gold edges to the interior paper. It has a decorative frontispiece with the maker's name. The paper inside is of varied colours. Pasted and stored on the inside of the book are two cuttings from biographical magazine articles featuring "lady artists" and "women in the world of art" of Miss M. J. Shubrook and various newspapers cuttings of prizes won and exhibitions at the Royal Academy containing her work. These cuttings date from 1883 onwards. In the middle of the book are stored four pieces of correspondence in French with an art magazine 'La Revue Moderne Illustre' dated May, June and July 1933 regarding Ann's Miniature, addressed to Mrs M. J. Hardman, West Cote, Northaw, Herts. At the back of the book are two additional loose pieces of paper including The Printed Rules for The British Museum.
