Description
Pencil and stipple drawing. Portrait of a head and shoulders of a young woman with ivy around her neck, in three quarter profile to the left with tightly curled hair worn tied back. Possibly a self portrait. Signed Minnie Jane Shubrook on the reverse. Dated 1884. Shubrook was a student at the Royal Academy in the last quarter of the 19th century, she was awarded a silver medal for this portrait. Shubrook later married and took on the married name Hardman.
