Portrait of Harriet Sarah (née Loyd), Lady Wantage (1837-1920). Lady Wantage is depicted as a three-quarter length figure, standing at the side of a grey donkey, holding the reigns and leaning against the crimson velvet and leopard-skin saddle-cloth. She is wearing a simple white-yellow dress. The donkey is bending its head downward to the left and wears a crimson head-stall and tassels, and a necklace of blue beads and coins. Foliage in the background and right foreground. Signed BR 97.
