    These are five samples of stages in the process of making cask. The first is an unshaped stave, the second has been roughed with a drawknife, the third has been shaped using a jointer plane, the fourth has been crozed and the fifth shows the fitting of a truss hoop. The samples came from the cooper's shop at H. & G. Simonds Ltd., known as the Bridge Street Brewery, in Reading.
