MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'The iron pot hook was used to suspend pots and kettles over the fire. It was either hung directly on a chimney crane, (see 51/163M), or a chimney bar, a horizontal bar fixed across the fireplace, or on a hanger, (see 51/868L) which was hung in its turn on the crane. // It consists of an iron hook in the shape of a letter S, on end of the hook being very slightly larger than the other. It is 5.25 inches in length and 3 inches across the S, and almost 1 inch thick.', Lavinia Smith Catalogue (D60/28) - 'A list of the contents of the East Hendred museum.
