    A hanger used for suspending pots and kettles over the fire.
    This iron hanger was used for suspending pots and kettles over the fire. It would be hung from a chimeny crane or chimney bar by the two hooks, and the utensils would be hung from the hanger on pot hooks. Nothing is known of its origin.

    MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This is an iron hanger used for suspending pots and kettles over the fire. It was used in conjunction with a chimney crane (see 51/163M), or a chimney bar, which was fixed horizontally across the chimney, and was designed to hold two or more utensils. It consists of an iron bar, 10.75 inches in length, with two hooks at right angles, 5 inches above the bar. The hooks would be slipped over the bar of the crane, and the utensils hung on the hanger by means of two or more pot hooks, (see 51/875 L).', Lavinia Smith Catalogue (D60/28) - 'A list of the contents of the East Hendred museum.
