    Cart lamp. Above the lens is the inscription 'Raydyot Cart Lamp'. Given to the donor by Albert Hayward, cowman at Clay Farm, Cambridge.
    This is a cart lamp, manufactured by Raydyot. It consists of a rectangular box body containing an oil reservoir and wick. One side has a window and the other a clip for attaching the lamp to a cart. The front has a large circular lens and the back a smaller, red-tinted lens. Above the larger lens is the inscription 'Raydyot Cart Lamp'. The lamp was given to the donor in 1945 by Albert Hayward, cowman at Clay Farm, Longroad, Cambridge.

    MERL 'Handwritten accession' form (Museum of English Rural Life) – 'LAMP // Description // 1 oil lamp for carts. Manufactured by Raydyot. // Rectangular, box body containing oil reservoir and wick. Window on one side, other side has clip for attaching lamp to cart. Front of body has large circular lens, the back has a smaller, red-tinted lens. Top of lamp is curved, with ovoid hand grip. Above larger lens is inscription - ' "Raydyot" Cart Lamp". (Oh, and side with larger lens is hinged to create door to access wick and oil reservoir).
