  • Description
This is a metal drag shoe, a wagon accessory. It was placed under a wagon wheel to act as a brake by causing the wheel to skid. The metal shoe also took the wear and tear of the braking, rather than the wheel tyre. This drag shoe was found buried in a gateway at Upper Horsehall Hill Farm, Chisbury, Wiltshire.
