    This is a large gin trap with toothed jaws and plate and spring mechanism. The chain for attaching to a peg in the ground is present. It also has extra two rows of large hooked spikes above the jaws. The object was used for catching animals such as otters.

    MERL Miscellaneous note-Georgia Charitou- 10 November 2014- This trap belonged to the donor's father [ F. J. M. Awdry]. He formed at Dyrham in Whiltshire and the trap formed part of a collection of old agricultural material.
