  • Description
    This is a glass thermometer with metal tip. It has various scales on a piece of paper inside. Also there is the inscription: 'FLOATING DAIRY THERMOMETER // BRITISH MAKE'. The thermometer is housed in a cardboard case. The item was used by J. Banks, Assistant Regional Officer (Bulk Collection) for checking temperature of water used for bulk tank calibration.

    MERL Miscellaneous note- Georgia Charitou- 11 November 2014-The equipment was from the Milk Marketing Board which operated from the Southern Regional Office of the MMB, 39 Christchurch Road, Reading. Mr. Banks worked from the office at Christchurch Road from 1961 onwards. The object was originally owned by Mr. A. Lynam, Southern Region Manager of Milk Marketing Board in Reading
