  • Description
    A pair of ice skates with wooden soles and iron blades. The soles have brass plates at the toe and heel, and each clog has spikes and a screw for fixing to a boot or clog. They have broad leather straps with buckles at the toe end, and another set of narrower straps with buckles for fixing round the ankles. The skates came from an area near the Wash, between Norfolk and Lincolnshire, and were used for skating on the Fens, which regularly froze in winter.
