  • Description
    This is a scythe with wooden handle which has two hand holds and a blade with wavy edge for cutting brambles and other rough material. It also has an inscription; 'BEST CROWN// ISAAC NASH//2'. This scythe was bought before the war (around 1937/8) from the ironmonger in Basingstoke called Punters. Also it was used in the garden of the Sherborne Hill House, Basingstoke.

    MERL miscellaneous note –Georgia Charitou-14 October 2014-Mrs Talbot's mother, Mrs Gilchrist sold the house in 1989 and gave the scythe to the Museum. Isaac Nash & Sons (Belbroughton, Stourbridge, Hereford & Worcester) is the manufacturing company.
