    A needlework sampler worked on cream cotton and showing various needlework skills such as hems, patches, buttonholes and gathers. It was made by the donor's mother at Aldermaston School, Berkshire, in 1879–80 when she was 9–10 years old.

One is worked on darker, open weave linen and shows embroidered letters and numbers. // Inscription: Name R. CARTER // Dimensions: 30 x 31 cms (approx.) // Associated information: This needlework was done by Mrs Sarjent’s mother at Aldermaston School in 1879–80 when she was 9–10 years old. Her name was Rosina Carter. // Mrs Sarjent 84 years old when she donated the needlework to MERL.’
