Description
One wax and two graphite pencils used in tailoring for marking out patterns. Various makes and inscriptions.
These are three pencils which were used by the donor's father, who was a tailor. They are consisting of one wax and two graphite pencils used in tailoring trade for marking out patterns. The first one is a red and black flat pencil from graphite with the inscription: MADE IN USA // DIXON RED AND BLACK // 998 - H HARD', the second one is a green and black flat pencil from graphite with the inscription: 'MADE IN ENGLAND BY CUMBERLAND // PENCIL CO. LTD // BLACKEDGE', and the third is a red pencil from wax with the inscription: 'HORACE H. HANCOCK'S // WAX PENCIL'.

3 tailor's pencils: good condition...[cont'd] inscription on red wax pencil: 'Horace H. Hancock's Wax Pencil, specialists in marking media for the tailoring trade'.
Archival history
MERL Miscellaneous note- Georgia Charitou- 4 November 2014- The object belongs to the Kellman Collection. The items of the collection were used by the donor's father, Alexander Kellman, who was a tailor in Queens Road, Reading, Berkshire.
