  • Description
This is a vase shaped mortar made from hard reddish- brown wood. It tapers gently from the edge into the pounding hole. The outside is facetted. Two protruding arms formed from the same piece of wood act as supports. Each is having a hole in the base which may be for fixing to something. Probably is originating from Upper Rejang [Sarawak?] and possibly purchased in Sarikei, Sibu Division when making film about sago.
