  • Description
    A hand-operated mill or 'bean kibbler', presumed to be used to grind chicken feed. Early 20th C. found in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire.
    A hand-operated mill or 'bean kibbler', presumed to be used to grind chicken feed. Early 20th C. found in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire. A small hand-operated mill, sometimes known as a 'bean kibbler', presumed to have been used to grind chicken feed. It is operated by means of a handle, and has a detachable hopper for feeding in the grain and a spout beneath to carry away the ground grain. It is attached to a strong iron bracket for fixing to a post or beam in the barn. The mill dates from the early-twentieth century and was found in an outbuilding on the High Street in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, during restoration work in 1993.
