Part of the ‘Shearomatic’, made by R. M. Marples & Son Ltd. There is another handle attached to the blade.
Part of the ‘Shearomatic’, an electric hedge cutter, powered by an air compressor, made by R. M. Marples & Son Ltd. This consists of an aluminium handle with a guarded reciprocated blade attached to one end, and a screw at the other for fixing it to the compressor. There is another handle attached to the blade.

Archival history
Mr. Hudson, the depositor, was Head of the Engineering Department at Somerset College of Agriculture & Horticulture. He was given this piece of equipment because he had a particular interest in horticultural machinery.
